Cheng Shifa (Chinese, 1921-2007)

Cheng Shifa (Chinese, 1921-2007)  Born in a small village on the outskirts of Shanghai, Shifa studied medicine before turning to painting. He graduated from the Shanghai Art School in 1941 and participated in his first exhibition in 1942.  First renowned for his work as an illustrator, he later became famous for his painting depicting the ethnic minorities of Yunnan.
