Travel through Asia with Printemps Asiatique

Gauchet Art Asiatique is delighted to welcome you, enlightened amateurs, passionate collectors and professionals alike, to the Asian Spring to show you the works that our gallery has meticulously assembled over the last few months.

For this edition, Jean Gauchet and Anna Kerviel invite you on a journey to the heart of mystical Asia, exploring the profound link between man and his gods. Since its creation, the art object has been a bridge, a relay, which we explore here as a passageway between man and the divine. For many in Asia, it is a medium of devotion, enabling believers to commune with the divine, the supernatural and the gods that are dear to them. This mysticism is eloquently expressed in rare sculptures of gods and deities from various regions of Asia, including China, Tibet, Japan and Thailand.

Buddhism, Taoism and Shintoism are an integral part of Asian civilisations, and manifest in every aspect of society. We are therefore proud to present these works as a tribute to the religions of these beloved lands. This journey into mystical Asia takes us through the eras of the Chinese dynasties, with an extremely rare marble Buddha head from the Northern Qi dynasty.

You can also explore objects dedicated to worship, such as a rare Vietnamese glazed earthenware altar vase, made during the Le dynasty, or a precious vessel for food offerings, made of pink glazed porcelain from the Daoguang period, as well as 18th-century Chinese cloisonné enamels placed on altars, accompanying religious sculptures and helping believers with their prayers. Finally, a rare collection of bronze Tibetan statuettes provides an insight into the Buddhist religious pantheon.

In 2024, we plan to meet you at a number of prestigious events and fairs. First, in Hong Kong, at the International Antiques Fair in May. Then, in Paris, at the Galerie Victor Edouard as part of the new edition of Printemps Asiatique, which has become a not-to-be-missed event and a meeting place for the major players in the world of Asian art, bringing together museums, experts, gallery owners and art dealers in Paris, a favourite venue for this specialist field.

We're also looking forward to meeting up again in September at Parcours des Mondes, a tour of the heart of Paris's 6th arrondissement, which we're delighted to be taking part in for the first time. For these two Parisian events, we are delighted to be presenting our work alongside that of Gauchet Fine Art, continuing this dialogue with the work of contemporary artist Li Chevalier in June, and forging a unique link between the Aboriginal art presented by Kristelle Gauchet and the Asian works at the Parcours des Mondes in September.

We would like to thank you once again for your confidence, and we are proud to present you with an ever more varied selection of works that we hope will delight you.
